Description
The hardiness and bright-yellow background color of the variegated, green-striped Alpinia zerumbet ginger lily make it an ideal accent plant in tropical gardens, especially with creeping thyme, an herbal remedy, at its base (lower left). The root of the ginger plant can be brewed as a tea, or chopped and added to recipes, and is effective for the relief of nausea.
Peak fullness and color in September and October. Several of mine have bloomed in the spring and early summer, producing complex delicate-pink cascading blossoms that are simply breathtaking. This image has been featured on the homepage of Fine Art America.
