Description
Black-and-white negative digital arts rendering (solarized inversion) of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, giving this American landmark the look of a night shot. This iconic travel destination connects the San Francisco mainland with the charming, picturesque arts community of Sausalito, California.
In the foreground, at the base of the bridge, is the former Fort Baker Army base, built between 1901 and 1915 (other references say 1861). Fort Baker was recently redesigned and refurbished as the Cavallo Point Lodge, a swank, eco-friendly resort with views of the bay, bridge, and city. It also boasts a cooking school and Michelin-starred restaurant. The image was taken in daylight in the summer of 2009, through the fog across San Francisco Bay at mid-day. The solarizing rendered it dark, giving the appearance of a night shot.
