Morning fog rolls in on the small coastal town of Port Angeles, Washington, as it awakens to a new day. Although no individuals are seen in this idyllic landscape, near Olympic National Park, people are implied. Their homes can be glimpsed among the evergreens along the shoreline, without intruding on the scene. Original photograph and typography by the artist. A beautiful addition to a wall of your home or office.
In this lovely coastal mountain and water landscape, the gentle sky, hinting of lavender and pink, leads to low clouds that caress the nearby foothills of the Cascade Range, which appear blue in the morning light. The lavish sky, and its promise of a new day, provides the perfect background for the classic Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, expertly set by the photographer in professional type.
In the foreground, luminous waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca shimmer in colors ranging from soft blue to deeper blues tinged with pink. The Strait of Juan de Fuca, or Juan de Fuca Strait as some prefer to call it, is the beautiful channel that separates Washington and Canada. The water adds to the peace and tranquility of this scene as it reflects the taller trees along the shore and light from above.
Nikon D80, Nikkor 50mm/f1.8 lens with ND filter, shot outdoors with no flash. Processed in 2014 in Photoshop Elements 12 as a digital painting, based upon the original photograph by the artist. Image has been cropped to the equivalent of a 5x7, making it ideal as a greeting card. Larger size prints (photographs, acrylics, canvas, metals, and more) are available as well.

This morning a buyer from Delran, New Jersey, purchased this image as a 12" x 8.63" stretched canvas print. My thanks to that buyer for purchasing the greeting card version of this image too. It was shot in the early morning mist off Port Angeles, Washington. I then added the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi--one of my all-time favorites as both a poem and song. May the card and canvas print bring much joy for many years to come! Thank you!
