Description
Distressed, carved and embellished, heavily weathered, and imperfectly constructed double-doors on the front of a 19th century building in the town of Port Townsend, Washington. Port Townsend is in Jefferson County, at the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula on the north shore of the state of Washington, USA.
The doors appear to have been made with a level or T-square that was just one or two degrees off. In vintage architecture it is not unusual to find that the work was done with the best of intentions, but was slightly imperfect in some way, if not completely off-center or not quite square. To me this is a charming example.
According to Wikipedia: In addition to its natural scenery, Port Townsend is also known for the many Victorian buildings remaining from its late 19th-century heyday, numerous annual cultural events, and as a maritime center for independent boat-builders and related industries and crafts. The Port Townsend Historic District is a U.S. National Historic Landmark District.
