Original film photo by the artist of the Superstition Mountains—scanned, restored, and given a painterly touch. The result: a gorgeous desert landscape for your walls or lifestyle.
This 300-acre Sonoran Desert state park is located five miles northeast of Apache Junction on the famous Apache Trail Highway, east of the Phoenix, Arizona, USA, metropolitan area. The mountains are believed to be the home of the legendary Lost Dutchman Mine, from which German immigrant Jacob Waltz, or Walz, extracted a tremendous amount of gold in the 19th century. The region is also the site of prehistoric Indian dwellings and offers hiking trails for further exploration. Wispy white cirrus clouds fill the blue sky over these rugged mountains, an Arizona landmark.
Photographed in the summer of 1993 with a Minolta Freedom Escort and Kodak film. You will more of these restored Arizona film images in this Arizona Gallery. This gently artistic image features much of the sky above the landmark Superstition Mountain, as well as desert plants of the Sonoran Desert. The blue sky is filled with wispy cirrus clouds. Though given a deft artistic touch, all details shown were in the original color photograph.
