This body of water is the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the channel Canadians prefer to call Juan de Fuca Strait. The channel runs from the Pacific Ocean eastward to the San Juan Islands, and separates the Olympic Peninsula of Washington (USA) from Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada.
