This is a great photo! Good job! It would also be perfect for the “Moss, Algae, Lichen, Liverworts and Hornworts” group, for which I am the Administrator, as well as for the “Creatures And Oddities of The Enchanted Woods And Forbidden Forest” group. If you haven’t already done so, I would encourage you to join that Moss and Algae group, and submit this photo for consideration on their Home Page of “Featured Photos “. Elaine and Charles, I'm delighted that you have chosen this image for the homepage in Beauty Captured. Thank you! To find Spanish moss in Olympic National Park was a real surprise. It created the most interesting patterns!

Artist's Description

On brown tree roots growing downward in a Pacific Northwest forest, green Spanish moss dangles like tangled hair, creating an interesting artistic pattern of pendent tufts found only in nature. Vertical (portrait orientation) in mostly browns and greens, with a touch of blue in the background.

Encountered on a trail in Olympic National Park, Washington, U.S.A. The trail is adjacent to Lake Crescent on the Olympic Peninsula, west of Port Angeles. The 1.5-mile path takes one through a beautiful but spooky forest, where Spanish moss hangs from the trees and nearly everything, including dangling roots and logs, seems to be covered with moss or lichens. Shot in September 2012.

About Connie Fox

Connie Fox

This true aesthetic loves beautiful things, from architecture to the intricate details of flowers and plants. A native Californian who lived in Arizona before settling in Texas, I love nature, topography, and exploring small towns, looking for old buildings, unique objects, and rust. I enjoy making scenes look interesting and natural, as I saw them, and worthy of a place in your home, your office, your life. For 15 years I worked as a dental hygienist. Then I spent 25 years as an award-winning writer, graphic designer, and editorial consultant--skills I still use in this venue and in helping others with special projects. This unique background, requiring discernment and perfection, helps ensure the quality of my work. I hope you will...
