Description
Beneath the Wing. B-17 Flying Fortress by Connie Fox
Underside of the wing of a B-17G in color, showing the insignia of the United States Air Force, formerly the Army Air Corps. Shot at the Wings Over Houston Air Show, Houston, Texas, October 26, 2013. Shows rivets, construction of the wing, insignia, a portion of the tail with yellow numeral on red background, and a beautiful cloudless blue sky.
This B-17 model, the B-17G, was used by the following squadrons of the 8th Air Force: 508, 509. 510, and 511. Posted for Veterans Day in memory of my father, who lived to be 90, and to honor all who have served.
On behalf of the Commemorative Air Force, which produces Wings Over Houston, The Point Group has granted permission to display this and other images from this years air show. My thanks to these organizations. According to Wings Over Houston, publicity for the show greatly benefits our community, so feel free to promote. Your votes, faves, and comments are welcome too.

Featured on the homepage of Beauty Captured, November 2013, on the eve of Veterans Day. My sincere thanks!
