Description
Here we have a tiny sedum, well under an inch in width, a sun-loving perennial succulent of a family commonly known as stonecrops. Thriving in late spring in Houston, Texas. Sedum is a large genus of flowering plants in the family Crassulaceace, of which there are up to 600 species. Stonecrops, or sedum, are leaf succulents found mostly in the Northern Hemisphere. They store water in their leaves and are considered a staple of hardy succulent groundcovers.
The flowers usually have five petals, and seldom four or six. This one has six and is bright coral pink in color. Typically sedum produce twice as many stamens as petals. The stamens on this vivid coral six-leaf variety are bright yellow.
The flowers can be enjoyed close-up, and they are tiny and quite pretty. Sedum withstand drought, deep freezes, poor soil, full sun, and high temperatures, making them an ideal choice of plant in many areas and for a variety of uses, from groundcover to hanging baskets. Despite harsh conditions, they continue to reward with stunning colors and blooms.
Closeup image captured with a Canon PowerShot G7X, given some subtle digital effects to enhance its natural beauty, and signed by the artist. A square image, this would lend to a variety of uses—from home to office and various products, including a new pillow for your sofa or favorite chair.

Thank you, Don. The thought that this tiny, unassuming flower could be singled out by one photographer, then end up as a beautiful feature on the homepage of Photographic Camera Art on Fine Art America is quite a life-story for a half-inch-wide botanical! I am honored and will share the image in the archives as you suggest. Thanks for the like and promotion too.
