Description
Outdoor nature photo features a gecko in perfect camouflage, from head to the tip of his long tail. I challenge you to find it! Zoom in for a closer look at the detail of this beautiful creature, especially the blue around the eye. Natural foliage background.
Chlorophytum comosum, often called the spider plant or airplane plant, is a striped flowering perennial herb. In this picture, this little gecko had his eye on a snail but stopped to pose for me. On closeup, I was amazed to find that his coloring perfectly followed the lines of the yellow and green stripes on the plant, and his eyelid is rimmed in aqua. He is quite a beautiful creature with an amazingly long tail, resting neatly upon a long leaf in this image.

I am pleased to report that this image tied for First Place--and was declared the winner--in a contest aptly named "A Spy Amongst Us." I had been photographing a hydrangea when I turned around and saw this little guy watching me. His body was perfectly camouflaged against the stripes of this spider plant, and he sat motionless as I studied him. Every single part of his body matched the green-and-white striped leaves! Check out his eyes and feet close up. What a marvelous creature! My thanks to all who voted for this image.

Luther Fine Art, thank you for the lovely feature on the homepage of the ABC Group - Z is For Zeal. Viewers are in for a treat if they'll zoom in on the gecko's eye or foot. Gecko camouflage skills are rivaled only by the magnificence of their texture, and their blue-rimmed eyes that can size you up on the spot! Beautiful.
