Description
Goldenball Leadtree (Leucaena retusa) in rural Texas between Brenham and Chappell Hill. The Goldenball Leadtree bears fragrant blooms of one-inch golden globes. These small trees (or large shrubs) are native to Texas. They grow from 12 to 20 feet high, 12 to 15 feet wide, and bloom from April to October with gold flowers. You will find several more goldenball leadtree photos in my Rural Texas and Botanicals galleries.

Thank you, Sorin. Frankly I've never seen them before, and all of a sudden they were everywhere this spring--in full bloom, and in a dizzying display of yellow.

Connie, this is very beautiful!!!! It reminds me of a tree / large shrub that I saw in mid-April a few years ago when I was in Green Valley near Tucson, Arizona. I'm thinking it might be the same tree? I have several images languishing in the computer so you may have inspired me to dig them up. I love the way you've captured the clarity of the blue sky, the green leaves in the background and that glorious, sun-kissed gold!!!! Definitely a f/v!!!
