Description
Color photo of the entrance to the Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California, USA. An unidentifiable oriental couple, their backs to the camera, pause at the entrance to take a picture of the scene before them.
The Japanese Tea Garden is a popular feature of Golden Gate Park, originally built as part of a sprawling Worlds Fair, the California Midwinter International Exposition of 1894. The oldest public Japanese garden in the United States, this complex of many paths, ponds, and a teahouse features native Japanese and Chinese plants. The gardens five acres contain many sculptures and bridges.

This image is available in black-and-white sepia and has been cropped to the equivalent of an 8x10. Larger sizes and greeting cards are available too. You will find a close-up picture of the gate, along with an interesting description, in my San Francisco album.

Thank you, Jim, for featuring both the color and sepia versions of this image in Comfortable Art. It's such a lovely scene, and an architectural treasure. I enjoy sharing it.
