Description
On one of two tree trunks in a Pacific Northwest forest, a mossy root grows downward, looking like a spooky dangling snake. Nearby, Spanish moss and various lichens create interesting artistic patterns found only in nature. Mostly browns and greens.
Encountered on a trail in Olympic National Park, Washington, U.S.A. The trail is adjacent to Lake Crescent on the Olympic Peninsula, west of Port Angeles. The 1.5-mile path takes one through a beautiful but spooky forest, where Spanish moss hangs from the trees and nearly everything, including dangling roots and logs, seems to be covered with moss or lichens.
