Description
Timeless vertical black-and-white photograph of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, with a perfectly positioned sailboat about to pass beneath it and the Bay Area's iconic fog filling the sky above. Originally shot in color (color version available in this gallery) and converted to black-and-white, in order to capture the timelessness of this scene. People have been coming here and viewing San Francisco's famous Golden Gate Bridge for generations. In my family, there have been many trips here and at least two honeymoons. My parents, grandparents, siblings, other relatives, and I may have stood and viewed the graceful and sturdy icon from this very spot. And other than an update in paint color from orange to red-orange, it looks the same today as it did generations ago.
This world-famous landmark and tourist destination connects the San Francisco mainland with the lovely arts community of Sausalito, California. You will find more images of the Golden Gate Bridge in this album, as well as in my Coastal, Botanical, and Vintage galleries. Because of all the daytime fog (this was taken at noon), this image has quite a moody look. Yet the fog does not obscure the pilons, except for the very top of the north one, on the Sausalito side.
