Description
Rural landscape photo (horizontal orientation) of a Goldenball Leadtree (Leucaena retusa). Located along the road between Round Top and Chappell Hill, Texas. Shot March 26, 2012, a year when the wildflowers and trees bloomed early. The Goldenball Leadtree bears fragrant blooms of one-inch golden globes. These small trees are native to Texas. They grow from 12 to 20 feet high and 12 to 15 feet wide, and bloom from April to October with gold flowers.
The yellow wildflowers or flowering grass below create and all gold-and-yellow scene, with only a small amount of blue sky. Airy foliage of the trees casts light shade for underplantings. I found this gold-and-yellow combo unusual and quite beautiful, especially in the light breeze along a highway on a beautiful spring day in Texas.
I have not yet identified the yellow flowers at the lower third of the frame. If you happen to know what they are, please email me with their common name.
