Description
What I've always called "Texas Sage" is officially known as "Bush Germander" or Tuecrium fruticans (botanical name). One can these facts and more about native Texas plants and trees at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas, where this image was photographed in mid-October. Attractive silvery gray-green foliage, growing to about 4x6. In summer, this lovely plant produces lavender/blue flowers.
I was inspired to plant three in a row down the center of a vegetable garden that needed to rest, and loved the simplicity and ease it brought to that zone. No maintenance—none.
