Description
This classic black-and white image features the Golden Gate Bridge, world-famous landmark of San Francisco, California, photographed from the San Francisco mainland toward Marin County and the town of Sausalito in late June 2009. This is the same spot where both sets of my grandparents, and parents, once stood. Perhaps yours too.
With perfect timing, a sailboat came along and was about to pass under the bridge when I captured this moment. A portion of the arch built above an old fort is seen at the base of the bridge on the San Francisco side. Sausalito can be seen across San Francisco Bay, and mid-day fog fills the sky.
