Description
ONE OF MY SOLD IMAGES AND AVAILABLE AGAIN
Black-and-white sepia photograph of the vintage Texas oil rig Santa Rita No. 1. A 2011 street scene shot in Austin, Texas. This would make a wonderful framed and matted print, or perhaps a ready-to-hand canvas or metal print, for a wall of your home or office--and an great conversation piece for those in oil-related businesses. It is also available as individual or boxed greeting cards.
Santa Rita is the patron saint of the impossible. Good name. The rig pumped oil for 19 years, beginning in 1923 when an oil well in West Texas finally blew in. That justified the faith of a several persistent, undaunted investors who named the claim. Since then, oil royalties have been flowing in to the Permanent University Fund of The University of Texas, Austin, Texas (USA), where the derrick is now located.
A Top Finisher (4th Place) in the Oil and Gas Rig Contest, January 2012. Featured by the Architecture and Construction Group in January 2012, and in Seen But Not Noticed and Premium FAA Artists, September 2014. My thanks!
