This vintage pipe has seen better days but has been recycled as a handrail in the town square of Bellville, Texas.
A detailed closeup or macro photograph, in tones of blue and rust against a blurred gray background, this historic pipe bears the inscription Stockham USA, with a large letter G on another portion. A straight pipe has been added to create a handrail to aid visitors down an incline to street level.
Seeing beauty in its simplicity and long use, I decided to shoot it close up. The result: contemporary wall art, as well as an interesting conversation piece of a well used relic that I am sure could tell many stories.

This true aesthetic loves beautiful things, from architecture to the intricate details of flowers and plants. A native Californian who lived in Arizona before settling in Texas, I love nature, topography, and exploring small towns, looking for old buildings, unique objects, and rust. I enjoy making scenes look interesting and natural, as I saw them, and worthy of a place in your home, your office, your life. For 15 years I worked as a dental hygienist. Then I spent 25 years as an award-winning writer, graphic designer, and editorial consultant--skills I still use in this venue and in helping others with special projects. This unique background, requiring discernment and perfection, helps ensure the quality of my work. I hope you will...

Thank you, Dan, for featuring this image on the homepage of Premium FAA Artists. Wouldn't the people who made this old pipe, and those who turned it into a handrail in a small Texas town, be surprised to know how far it has come! What a long and productive life it has had. I found the lines, colors, and textures so interesting.
