A SOLD IMAGE, AVAILABLE AGAIN
Antique wood door with heavy black brackets and large nailhead trim in horizontal rows serves as the gate that leads to the famous Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Created by Baron Makoto Hagiwara for the 1894 World's Fair Exhibit, the tea garden was originally called the Japanese Village. This door reflects the rustic style in which the tea garden was designed, in order to blend with the rugged countryside of the area.
Most items for the garden were shipped from overseas, and this door might actually date much farther back than the 1890s. The bowed effect is part of the door and frame, so I have preserved both in this photo. Shot in 2009 with a Canon A630, and only slightly enhanced to bring out the details.

This true aesthetic loves beautiful things, from architecture to the intricate details of flowers and plants. A native Californian who lived in Arizona before settling in Texas, I love nature, topography, and exploring small towns, looking for old buildings, unique objects, and rust. Then I spent 25 years as an award-winning writer, graphic designer, and editorial consultant--skills I still use in this venue and in helping others with special projects. This unique background, requiring discernment and perfection, helps ensure the quality of my work. I hope you will...

It's funny how it often takes a photo to help us appreciate what we've been privileged to see. Thanks for taking the time to look at it, Mary, and for your kind words.
