Branches of a native Texas pecan tree (Carya illinoensis), a form of hickory, covered with golden yellow fall leaves. Soon winter will arrive in Houston, Texas.
This is one of five original pecan trees (there were more) planted in a row on the rice farm on which this subdivision was built. Just prior to my move, after 35 years here, I learned from an inspector that my house was built where the original farmhouse once stood--the highest point in the subdivision. Next to my office window was this beautiful old tree.
