Description
Native Texas pecan tree (Carya illinoensis), a form of hickory, covered with fresh green leaves in springtime. Vertical orientation cropped to the equivalent of an 8x10, with larger sizes and 5x7 greeting cards available.
This old tree is one of the five original trees planted in a straight line long ago, and adjoining my property. Only two of the five survive, all planted in the mid-1800s. The field on which my home was built was formerly a rice field. Where my home sits, in relation to the line of trees, is thought to be where the original farmhouse once stood. Relics of it have been found in my landscaping digs.
