Artist's Description
Solarized black-and-white photograph of Spreckels Temple of Music, also called The Bandshell, on the Music Concourse at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
Built in 1899 in advance of the Music Concourse's completion in 1900, this structure is the focal point of the concourse--a sunken, oval-shaped open-air plaza built for the California Midwinter International Exposition of 1894, and severely damaged in the 1906 and 1989 earthquakes. The bandshell has served as a stage for numerous performers, including Luciano Pavarotti.

About Connie Fox
This true aesthetic loves beautiful things, from architecture to the intricate details of flowers and plants. A native Californian who lived in Arizona before settling in Texas, I love nature, topography, and exploring small towns, looking for old buildings, unique objects, and rust. I enjoy making scenes look interesting and natural, as I saw them, and worthy of a place in your home, your office, your life. For 15 years I worked as a dental hygienist. Then I spent 25 years as an award-winning writer, graphic designer, and editorial consultant--skills I still use in this venue and in helping others with special projects. This unique background, requiring discernment and perfection, helps ensure the quality of my work. I hope you will...

Jenny Soper, thank you so much for featuring "Bandshell at Golden Gate Park" in No Place Like Home. California was my family home for the most formative years of my life, and it's fun to think about both sets of grandparents, and my parents, looking at this scene too.
