Description
Beautiful Texas ranch scene showing a small herd of docile American Brahman cattle in various colors—black, light gray, and amber—resting beside a blue-water pond in the Prairies and Lakes region. Trees, both evergreen and bare, plus a mix of winter grasses, are seen on the gently rolling hills.
The blue lake or pond (called a “tank” in Texas), looks more blue than the cloudless sky above. A barbed wire fence is shown in the foreground, with some small buildings in the distance. The horizon shows the relative flatness of this beautiful land, where the homestead touches the sky. The Prairies and Lakes region of Texas lies between the Gulf Coast region and the Texas Hill Country.
One sees many wildflower images of Texas in springtime. But I wanted to show the beauty of winter here, captured off the beaten path in the type of wild and rugged countryside encountered by the pioneers. The strong pristine blues of the sky and pond create a stunning landscape scene in this large-format image.

Beautiful scenic, Conne. ... composition balance and use of the Rule of Thirds. Excellent!
Connie Fox replied:
Thank you for commenting on those aspects, Frank. I can't always get cattle to cooperate, but my subjects did well here--and I did measure for thirds! What a keen eye you have! Thanks for the top-row feature in Compact Digital Camera Photographers!
