Artist's Description
Wide view of San Francisco Bay includes, from left to right, Alcatraz (from which this seagull easily may have escaped), the Bay Bridge, and skyline of San Francisco.
Photographed from a ferry ride from the mainland to Sausalito. The sailboat was not added. Every element was originally there, and these are the original colors. At the suggestion of a fellow photographer, I moved the seagull from the right side of the frame to the left, so the bird would be flying into the scene rather than out of it.
When I was planning my trip to San Francisco, I could not find one picture that gave me an overview of how Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge related to the mainland and the city of San Francisco. As you can see, it does not look like a long swim to freedom from Alcatraz, a federal penitentiary, to Fishermans Wharf. But the frigid waters, coupled by the prisoners lack of exercise, made them no match for surviving this relatively short swim to freedom.

About Connie Fox
This true aesthetic loves beautiful things, from architecture to the intricate details of flowers and plants. A native Californian who lived in Arizona before settling in Texas, I love nature, topography, and exploring small towns, looking for old buildings, unique objects, and rust. I enjoy making scenes look interesting and natural, as I saw them, and worthy of a place in your home, your office, your life. For 15 years I worked as a dental hygienist. Then I spent 25 years as an award-winning writer, graphic designer, and editorial consultant--skills I still use in this venue and in helping others with special projects. This unique background, requiring discernment and perfection, helps ensure the quality of my work. I hope you will...
