Description

Lush Canadian evergreens gracefully encircle Lake Bennett, located on the Chilkoot Trail in Yukon Territory and British Columbia, Canada. Snow-capped glacial peaks stand out against a crystal clear blue sky filled with gentle white clouds. This image is beautiful in its simplicity.

This was one idyllic stop on our White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad Tour, an option included in our Princess Cruises land-and-sea journey in September 2015. Bennett, British Columbia, at an elevation of 2,785 feet, is where thirty thousand stampeders spent the winter of 1898-1899, building makeshift rafts and boats to take them across Lake Bennett and down the Yukon River to the goldfields. Try to imagine that as you view this calm and peaceful scene with no people in sight.
