Artist's Description
Restored film image of a tall fossilized tree and its separate base, blocking a portion of the road in the Petrified Forest National Park. Drivers simply go around it. The park is located 22 miles east of Holbrook, Arizona, just off I-40, in Navajo and Apache counties. Here the high desert country of northeastern Arizona averages 5400 feet in elevation.
The park was established as a national monument in 1906 and named for the petrified wood, such as this large fossilized tree, that amazed early settlers and visitors. Indian ruins and petroglyphs are also found in the park, whose scope has greatly expanded over the years and has become a favorite of paleontologists. Where the Petrified Forest ends, the Painted Desert begins.
Shot in the summer of 1993 with a Minolta Freedom Escort and Kodak film. Scanned in 2014 and given a painterly look. You will more of these restored Arizona film images in this Arizona Gallery. Although they are limited to smaller print sizes, they wo...
About Connie Fox
This true aesthetic loves beautiful things, from architecture to the intricate details of flowers and plants. This unique background, requiring discernment and perfection, helps ensure the quality of my work. I hope you will...

Thank you, Dan, for featuring this image in Premium FAA Artists. With so much open land everywhere, it was funny to find this tree in the road--when the road could have been built most anywhere except here! Hope that made someone laugh.
