Thank you, John, though we can hardly compete with the beauty of your part of the country--one of my favorite places. No snow this winter. My azaleas are starting to bloom.

Artist's Description

Color photo of snow falling in Houston, Texas, on December 4, 2009. Snow is rare along the Texas Gulf Coast, historically occurring once every ten years or so. Defying that usual pattern, it last snowed in Houston on Christmas Eve only four or five years prior. (No "global warming" here!) This part of town had one to two inches, but other parts of Houston received as much as four or five inches or more. The following year, in 2010, it snowed again!

Large philodendron in the foreground and, in the corner, a large sago palm beneath a crepe myrtle tree. Only the crepe myrtle survived.

About Connie Fox

Connie Fox

This true aesthetic loves beautiful things, from architecture to the intricate details of flowers and plants. A native Californian who lived in Arizona before settling in Texas, I love nature, topography, and exploring small towns, looking for old buildings, unique objects, and rust. I enjoy making scenes look interesting and natural, as I saw them, and worthy of a place in your home, your office, your life. For 15 years I worked as a dental hygienist. Then I spent 25 years as an award-winning writer, graphic designer, and editorial consultant--skills I still use in this venue and in helping others with special projects. This unique background, requiring discernment and perfection, helps ensure the quality of my work. I hope you will...
