Description
In this true black and white landscape photograph taken in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in southeastern Alaska, U.S.A., a white bird flies away from the face of Margerie Glacier as it is about to calve. Margerie Glacier is located on Tarr Inlet in Glacier Bay, close to Grand Pacific Glacier.
These chunks of ice, or calves, break off from the face of a glacier. This one would be a relatively small chunk, but a thrill for visitors on one of only two cruise ships allowed into Glacier Bay at any given time. This image was shot from the Pacific Princess. A Holland America ship was also in the bay as we enjoyed this top-ten destination on our bucket list.
This image works especially well for all products, especially larger items such as duvet covers and shower curtains.
