Description
Starburst clusters of orange ixora in the garden. Droplets of water cover the lacy flowers and sturdy green leaves of this Asian plant. The scientific name for ixora is rubiaceae.
Ixora, meaning flame of the woods, is a sun-loving plant native to Malaysia. This popular residential flowering shrub thrives in mild climates and is easy to care for. This plant had yellow blossoms when purchased, and now produces blossoms of both yellow and red-orange, such as these. Another plant, also filled with yellow blossoms when purchased, produced peach-colored flowers this year.
