A sunset in stunning bands of pink, orange, and yellow paints the blue sky with brilliant color over the Strait of Juan de Fuca, visually linking the state of Washington, USA, with British Columbia, Canada. The channel Canadians prefer to call Juan de Fuca Strait runs from the Pacific Ocean eastward to the San Juan Islands, and separates the Olympic Peninsula of Washington (USA) from Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada.
Photographed from a backyard in Port Angeles, where grasses grow at the edge of a cliff that drops to the edge of the water. A portion of the Olympic coastline can be seen at the far left of the frame, and Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada, on the right.

Diann, I heartily agree. Our group of four watched this for a long time and had never seen anything quite like it. Did you happen to see the little yellow squiggle toward the far left? It reminds me of a signature.
