Industrial landscape, waterscape, and transportation photograph
Freighter passing through the Houston Ship Channel. Chot from a large window in the second-story dining room at the Monument Inn. From this well-known Houston restaurant, patrons can enjoy a fascinating view of ships from around the world as they transport cargo through one of the busiest ship channels in the United States.
The Monument Inn is a full-service restaurant near the San Jacinto Battleground and Battleship Texas in La Porte, outside of Houston. Those who remember the famous San Jacinto Inn (memorable for its huge portions of shrimp, fried chicken, and biscuits served family-style) will be glad to know that, although that famous landmark burned down, the Monument Inn maintains the same approach to quality food and friendly service. You will find a postcard sketch of the original Monument Inn in my Vintage and Texas Galleries.
