Vertical color photo of the iconic deep-red Golden Gate Bridge, with two entire pilons and structural details shrouded in layers of fog. (Note that this one has no sailboat beneath the bridge.)

This moody image with a bright spot might be ideal for a certain place in your home or office. If you stand back and view this scene from across the room, you’ll find it to be gentle and easy on the eyes, with light trying hard to break through the fog. I think I’ll make room for a framed print of this spectacular landmark in my home-office, and hope you will consider it too.

Generations of my family have stood in the very spot from which I captured this scene. It includes the arch on the San Francisco side and the entire span of the bridge, which lands north of the famous City by the Bay near the charming town of Sausalito. A portion of the old fort is also shown here in the foreground. Last I heard, it was a cooking school.

Though no vehicles or people are shown, both are implied in this image that includes plenty of sky. What looks to some people like “streaks,” I’m told, are simply layers of fog. This image was captured at noon, and the fog burned off to reveal a beautiful afternoon for sailing in San Francisco Bay.
