Description
This red-sailed colonial-style frigate passed me several years ago on a visit to Georgetown, South Carolina. I shot the picture with a small film camera (a Minolta Freedom Escort), but felt the photo had more potential as a digital arts image. I am submitting it for the "Manipulation" contest, having converted it in 2009 or before.
Surprisingly, using a simple Adobe editing program, I was able to use a cloud filter to turn the red sails black, emphasizing their shape and position. The trees turned from green to red, reminding me of the beautiful Japanese maples in the area. With the sky reflected in the water, both are an equal combination of blue and green. I liked the results of the manipulation, and hope you do too.

Hello Connie! What a wonderful manipulation of this frigate; it really looks Asian. The colors are fab. I enjoyed reading the description and your personal bio. I am happy you are documenting the "old stuff!" F/V Kirsten
Connie Fox replied:
Hello, Kirsten. Thanks for your appreciative comments on my colorful frigate. I must admit, the colors nearly knocked me out of my chair, and I'm pleased it's found a nice home here on FAA, where people see the beauty in images such as this. Documenting the "old stuff" is so fun. Glad you appreciate that too.
