Description
These rocks, relocated by the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens in the the state of Washington, were shot in color then solarized to create an abstract with the appearance of a night shot. A striking star-shaped blue leaf-print on one of the rocks catches the eye, and other debris and patterns seem to appear out of nowhere.
As of May 17, 1980, Mount St. Helens, located in the Cascade Range in the state of Washington, USA, was considered one of the most perfect mountains in the world. Shaken by an earthquake that registered 5.1 on the Richter scale, the mountain erupted at 8:32 a.m. on a Sunday morning, May 18, 1980.
The north face of the tall, symmetrical mountain collapsed in a massive avalanche of debris--much of it rock that one finds all over the bleak landscape. I liked the arrangement of these, and how solarizing augmented certain features. I plan to post the original, as shot, for the sake of comparison.
