Description
Odd wood formation that looks like an airborne bark- and moss-covered log, complete with a face and arms outstretched like wings of a plane. It appears to have eyes painted on, giving it a surreal and humorous look. In the background one sees the forest in browns and greens, with a bokeh effect.
Encountered on a trail in Olympic National Park, Washington, U.S.A. The trail is adjacent to Lake Crescent on the Olympic Peninsula, west of Port Angeles. The 1.5-mile trail takes one through a beautiful but spooky forest, where Spanish moss hangs from the trees and nearly everything. Dangling roots and logs are all covered with moss or lichens--a whole new (but old) world.

This is a great photo! Good job! It would also be perfect for the “Moss, Algae, Lichen, Liverworts and Hornworts” group, for which I am the Administrator, as well as for the “Creatures And Oddities of The Enchanted Woods And Forbidden Forest” group. If you haven’t already done so, I would encourage you to join that Moss and Algae group, and submit this photo for consideration on their Home Page of “Featured Photos “. Here is the link to the group: https://fineartamerica.com/groups/moss-algae-lichen-liverworts-and-hornworts-.html
