Film image from 1993, updated in 2014 and given a painterly touch with light texture. It shows a swimmer about to go over Slide Rock in Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, Arizona, as other people watch from the sidelines. No one in this image is identifiable, and no releases would be required.
Slide Rock, now a State Park, is part of the Pendley Homestead Historic District. You will find more information in the Description for the "1927 Pendley Homestead House" in this Arizona Gallery. The Pendley Homestead Historic District, including Historic Orchards and the house built in 1927, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Slide Rock Park was originally part of the homestead.
As a high school and college student in Arizona, I have great memories of this area when my girlfriends and I had Slide Rock all to ourselves, and when I stayed as a camper in one of three remaining bungalows built in the Thirties. Back then, in the Sixties, the area was unspoiled by tourism. I am proud to add "Slide Rock in Sedona" to my Arizona Gallery, and hope you will enjoy all of my Arizona pictures, both photographs and painterly images.
This photograph of Slide Rock, rendered as digital art, would make a lovely fine-art addition to a wall of your home or office. Photographed in the summer of 1993 with a Minolta Freedom Escort and Kodak film. Scanned, restored, and made to look like a textured painting in 2014. It has been digitally signed by the artist.
