Description
Scenic landscape from the George Parks Highway between Fairbanks and Denali in late August, featuring two of the tallest peaks in Alaska and a beautiful blue sky. Most likely these huge peaks are Mount Huntington and Mount Hunter, eight miles each from Denali (formerly called Mount McKinley), presenting unique and challenging options for mountain climbers. For travelers who love the mountains (like climbers, also called mountaineers), this beautiful landscape would be a perfect choice--an "evergreen" that never goes out of style.
In this relaxing scene, some clouds in a clear-blue sky hug the snow- and glacier-capped mountains of the 600-mile-long Alaska Range. The gorgeous mountains provide the backdrop for a lush evergreen forest that extends to the rolling hills beyond. A stream of blue, reflecting the color of the sky, runs along the lower foreground amidst fall colors. By morning, the first snowfall of the season would delight us at our destination, the town of Denali, turning our rustic lodge into a magical village and compelling us to bundle up for winter in late August.
