Description
Black-eyed Susan flowers in a beautiful outdoors grouping fill the entire frame in this yellow and black image with tones of purple and blue. Image is uncropped and shows this species of flowers in all stages of growth. With the sharp detail in this lovely image, one can even see the fibers, or hairs, on the stems.
The black-eyed Susan--scientific name rudbeckia hirta--is a North American species of flowers in the sunflower family. They are native to eastern and central North America, and naturalized in the western part of the continent as well as in China. Sunflowers can be found in all ten Canadian provinces and in the 48 contiguous United States. They may even grow in Hawaii. These beautiful flowers were shot in Denali National Park, Alaska, just hours before the first snowfall of the season, in late August.
Sunflowers are the symbol of the state of Maryland, U.S.A.

Don, thank you for making this image a Favorite. I love it too. In fact, when I first glanced at the Activity page, I thought--"Oh, those flowers look just like mine!" And they were!
