A fun color photo of snow accumulation on a patio rocking chair in Houston, Texas. The excitement of snow, rare along the Texas Gulf Coast, can shut down this city of eight or ten million that owns only one snowplow.
Snow historically has occurred in the Greater Houston Area every ten years. Defying that usual pattern, it snowed in Houston on Christmas Eve only four or five years prior to this 2022 picture. This part of town had one to two inches, but other parts of Houston received as much as four or five inches or more. The following year, in 2010, it snowed again—and we've seen at least two back-to-back snowfalls since. (No "global warming" here.)
My unofficial snowfall dates (taken from camera information): December 4, 2009, again in 2010; December 7, 2017 (plus Christmas Eve too), February 2021 and 2022, with notable snow and ice storms in early 2021 and 2022. These "snowpocalype" events remain memorable for destroying nearly all of our landscaping, much of it tropical, and a good number of our major appliances.
Appropriately a "seasonal" filter was used in the processing of this fun image, submitted for a snow-covered seating contest. Hoping to come away with a win—or perhaps bring a jovial laugh or a smile.
