Description
Mount McKinley, now officially called Denali, in rural Alaska, as seen from the shore of the Susitna River in the small town of Talkeetna. At 20,320 feet, Denali is the tallest mountain in North America. From its base to its highest peak, the South Peak, it is considered the tallest mountain in the world, and growing in size.
You will find other images of Denali in this gallery. Some will print in larger sizes than this, which includes Denali alone. Others include a portion of the Alaska Range of which Denali is a part--but with its own climate system. Yes, a mountain with a mind of its own!

Breathtaking capture, Connie! Alaska is still on my places to visit list! I'm praying I can visit there next year! Amazing shot from the Susitna River! F/L

Thanks so much, Kathy. I do hope you will move Alaska to the top of your bucket list. I'm so glad we took a small-ship cruisetour that took us southward (important) from Fairbanks to Vancouver. This way we saw far more of Alaska that just Glacier Bay. This is a view of Denali that few tourists see. Someone in our party had gone down the same path we were on but reported seeing only "a lake and a boat." We saw an entire river and Denali. Heed the little voice inside, and you'll see wonders all around you. Truly a magical trip.
